City of York AC athletes John Moreland, Rebecca Perry and Yvette Alexander delivered a superb set of performances at the European Masters Athletics Championships in Madeira this month - returning home with two European titles, three medals, and multiple club records.
Rebecca Perry made a remarkable Masters debut, becoming European Champion in the W35 100m and taking bronze in her first ever Heptathlon over the first weekend of the competition. Across the eight events she broke several City of York W35 club records.
Yvette Alexander showed incredible grit and determination to compete despite sustaining an ankle injury shortly before the championships. Her perseverance in representing both City of York AC and Team GB Masters was a testament to her strength and commitment, and we’re excited to see what she achieves next season once fully fit.
John Moreland continued his outstanding run of international success, claiming the title of European Champion in the M65 discus. A model of technical excellence and competitive poise, John once again proved himself among Europe’s best in his event.
Congratulations to Rebecca, John, and Yvette on their fantastic achievements!
