Northern Indoor Open 1 - 22/11/2025
The first of the Northern Indoor open meeting saw 15 york athletes in action. Standout performances came from Nathaniel Wade who had a storming run in the 150m with a time of 16.83 the fastest U17 and 2nd fastest overall the ages groups U17+. He also won his heat of the 60m (7.38). Seb Goodridge also in 60m (7.28) 1st in his heat and 3rd overall U20 and 150m (17.25) a win in his heat and finished the 2nd quickest U20 overall. The 2 nd race in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League took place at Wakefield on Sunday with 49 runners from the club taking part. Both the club’s senior teams came 3 rd in the team events. Niamh McLaughlin came 2 nd in the Women’s race to Leeds City’s Charlotte Van Zelst. A quiet week for the club’s distance runners with no club event taking place nor an obvious local road race. Jessica Robertson-Dover, Niamh McLoughlin, Jodo Bemand and Jack Haynes helped University of York come 2 nd in the mixed team category at the Manchester Relays on Saturday. Double European Masters Gold for City of York Athletes in Madeira
City of York AC athletes John Moreland, Rebecca Perry and Yvette Alexander delivered a superb set of performances at the European Masters Athletics Championships in Madeira this month - returning home with two European titles , three medals , and multiple club records . Cross Country Racing
The Northern Cross Country Relays took place on Saturday at their usual venue of Graves Park in Sheffield. The under 17 women’s team came within 7 seconds of a medal as they came 4th. Beth Lewis ‘won’ the opening leg in a time of 7.32 for the 2.3k leg. This time turned out to be the fastest leg of the race. Lucy Davey dropped two places to 3rd as she ran 8.43 for the 2nd leg.
