Track and Field
Great results in 2 end of season pentathlons, with Jaxon Marshall winning at Trafford. PB’s in hurdles 12.46 a club record, high jump 1.42, Shot 9.68 and 800m 2:31.8. Total 1935 is 2nd in UK this year only 3 points behind leader. And since 2020 only 9 UK boys have beaten that.
And Lucy Stimson a fine 4th (out of 19) at Jarrow in her first pentathlon, and keeping the club reputation by winning the hurdles.
Road Racing
Friday night saw the latest race in the University of York 5k Series. There were 3 age group club records from James Bastow, Tim Pattison and Marianne Lowson with several PBs run by our athletes. James Bastow 16.05 PB of 23 seconds, new member Luke Haynes 16.32, Jamie Walker 16.45, Tim Pattison 16.55, George Ghosh 17.36 PB by 9 seconds, Allan Scott 17.45 PB by 5 seconds, Freddie Clayton 17.49, Marianne Lowson 18.17 PB by 22 seconds, Indie Proudlove 18.55 PB by 39 seconds, Noah Stipetic 19.19 PB by 10 seconds, Lydia Scott 19.48, John Lewis 20.46 PB by 2 seconds, Isla Watson 20.55 PB by 53 seconds and Carys Briggs 22.53.
Down at Battersea Park in London Angus McMillan earned himself a nice pay cheque by coming 3rd in a competitive field in a time of 14.15 in the Friday Night Under Lights race that actually took place on Thursday!
A "varied" representation took part in the very nice Wetherby 10K on Sunday which saw our trio led home by U17 Juliette Horne in 43m 36 taking 90 seconds off her recent Escrick time and Wetherby is a harder course. And placing 65th out of over 600. Not far behind was decathlete and coach Isaac Henson in an amazing 44m 23, as he had never run further than 5K before. But don't expect him to high jump or do high hurdles for a few days! Then prolific racing veteran Dave Lancaster in 46m 29
Parkrun
18 runners from the club did parkrun over the weekend. Ed Brown (16.38) narrowly got the better of Will Torgersen (16.42) as they came 1st and 2nd on the Knavesmire. James Tucker came 1st at Calgarry in Canada in 16.14 with William Keens also getting 1st at Easingwold in 18.04. Wilson Moisey-Smith (18.33) was narrowly beaten into 2nd place at Dalby Forest. There was a veteran age group win for Jon Blake and a junior one for Josh Reid. Noah Stipetic and Josh Reid were the first two runners across the line in the York Junior Parkrun.
